We’ll be seeing how we can cope and even grow through our doubts, with practical and biblical strategies.
For many of us middle-age is an unwelcome guest who has come to stay permanently. We will be looking beyond our grey hairs and wrinkles to think about middle-age from the perspective of the gospel of Christ. Expect to be pleasantly surprised.
Paul says ‘train yourself to be godly’ (1 Timothy 4:7). The implications of the athletic metaphor are intriguing and significant. They point to the ‘spiritual disciplines’ ??” a relatively neglected area in which many of us need help. We will be thinking about the training routines (prayer, worship, bible reading, fasting etc) that help us to grow spiritually. Expect more practice than theory.
In this second seminar, we will be looking at a different dimension of the discipline that is needed for growth in godliness ??” the development of ‘Repeated inner gospel-driven choices’. The session will be highly practical, aiming at equipping us to train our inner life with the gospel. Attendance at the first seminar is not necessary to benefit from this session.
